Israel Shifts to Direct Aid Distribution in Gaza Using American Firms

Israel's defense establishment is preparing to launch a new mechanism for delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza – operated by U.S. private companies and supported by four distribution centers across the Strip.

This Sunday, Israel’s defense establishment will begin implementing a new system for the distribution of humanitarian aid in Gaza. The initiative will be managed by a private American company, whose representatives recently arrived in Israel and are currently undergoing training ahead of the launch. At the same time, four distribution centers are being set up: three in Rafah and one in the central part of the Gaza Strip, south of the Netzarim Corridor.

“One package per family”
Under the plan, first revealed by IDF Radio (Galatz), each family will be allowed to send a representative to receive a weekly aid package containing basic food supplies. This marks the first time aid distribution in Gaza will be carried out directly and under supervision, without the involvement of Palestinian or international organizations.

Beyond addressing urgent humanitarian needs, the southern placement of the distribution centers is also designed to serve a military objective: encouraging the civilian population to evacuate to the southern Strip, thereby enabling the IDF to complete the depopulation of the north – a strategic goal in the fight against Hamas.

Shift in approach
The use of private American companies reflects a shift in Israel’s approach to managing aid in Gaza – moving away from actors connected to Hamas or UNRWA, and toward tighter oversight of distribution methods, delivery routes, and the identity of recipients.
