Israel Sends Strong Warning to Lebanon After Avivim Shooting

Following gunfire that struck an empty vehicle parked in the Avivim area, the Defense Minister ordered the IDF to respond: "We will not allow fire from Lebanese territory toward northern Israeli communities."

Earlier today (Sunday), gunfire struck an empty vehicle parked in the Avivim area, likely originating from Lebanese territory. The IDF spokesperson confirmed that no injuries were reported and that IDF forces are scanning the area. It is important to note that any shooting into Israel from Lebanese territory constitutes a violation of the understanding between Israel and Lebanon.

Two Hezbollah Terrorists Eliminated in Lebanon
“Earlier today (Sunday), the IDF targeted and eliminated two Hezbollah terrorists who were conducting surveillance and facilitating terror operations in the Yater and Meiss El Jabal areas of southern Lebanon.” These terrorist activities were also a violation of the understandings that were reached between Israel and Lebanon.

A Red Flag That Cannot Be Ignored
Marom HaGalil Regional Council head, Amit Sofer, addressed the incident, stating: “The gunfire in Avivim, which fortunately ended without casualties, is a red flag that cannot be ignored. The risk of harm has been show to be real. Without a buffer zone and with terrorists returning to villages in southern Lebanon, this is turning into the Wild West.”

“We Will Respond Forcefully to Any Violation of the Ceasefire”
Later, Defense Minister Israel Katz instructed the IDF to respond to the bullet strike that hit the windshield of a vehicle in Moshav Avivim and to deliver a clear warning to the Lebanese government about future consequences. “We will not allow fire from Lebanese territory toward northern Israeli communities – we will respond forcefully to any violation of the ceasefire.”
