Israel Seeks Global Support to Halt Iran’s Nuclear Ambitions

Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar called in Berlin for immediate international action to stop Iran’s nuclear program, emphasizing that the latest IAEA report reinforces fears that Iran is seeking to acquire nuclear weapons.

Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar met today (Thursday) in Berlin with German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul. The two held a personal meeting, followed by an expanded meeting with their respective teams. The talks took place after their joint visit to the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe. They discussed global, European, and regional issues, with the central topic being Iran’s nuclear program.

Speaking at a press conference following the meeting, Sa’ar said that the IAEA report published last Saturday presents a troubling picture: “The report reinforces what Israel has been saying for years – Iran’s nuclear program is not for peaceful purposes. The scale of uranium enrichment reflects the ambitions of a country pursuing nuclear weapons.”

He urged the international community to act immediately to stop Iran’s nuclear program, saying, “This is a time for action, not for further delay.”

In addition, Sa’ar addressed recent statements from Hamas and Hezbollah: “Hamas is responsible for the war and for its continuation. The international community must take positive steps to apply pressure on Hamas,” he said, adding that “pressure on Israel will not help – it will only strengthen Hamas.”

“Israel said yes to special envoy Steve Witkoff’s proposal for a hostage deal – 19 days ago. Unfortunately, Hamas rejected the proposal. I say this here – as clearly as possible: Israel is serious in its intent and determined to reach an agreement. An agreement that would lead to a ceasefire and address all the issues we discussed in our meetings,” he emphasized.
