WASHINGTON, D.C. – Yaron Lischinsky, a staffer at the Israeli Embassy in Washington, was killed in a terrorist shooting just days before he was due to propose to his partner Sarah Milgram. Hours before the deadly attack, he posted what would be his final tweet: a sharp rebuke of international accusations that Israel is to blame for starvation in Gaza.
Standing Against Disinformation
In his last post on social media, Lishinsky retweeted a statement by Amir Weissbrod, Israel’s former ambassador to Jordan, in response to Tom Fletcher, Deputy Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs at the UN. Fletcher had claimed that 14,000 infants in Gaza were at risk of dying within 48 hours due to famine conditions.
Lischinsky called the claim a blood libel, sharing Weissbrod’s message, which denounced the statement as part of a false and inflammatory campaign.

You Are Spreading Disinformation
Weissbrod’s original post read: “Your claim that 14,000 babies are in danger of dying is a blood libel. The UN and its officials are obligated to remain neutral. You have repeatedly violated that duty.”
He continued: “Your reports are based on lies and Hamas propaganda. You never mention how Hamas and other terror groups use hospitals, schools, and shelters as human shields. Enough is enough—you must be held accountable for the disinformation you’re spreading.”
Lischinsky echoed that sentiment by sharing the post shortly before his death.
A Voice for Israel
Lischinsky was known for speaking out against international delegitimization of Israel, especially in multilateral arenas. His final tweet now stands as a symbol of his advocacy, courage, and commitment to truth.
He was killed in a shooting attack near a “Young Diplomats” event at the Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C.—an act being investigated as an anti-Israel terror attack. His fiancée, Sarah Milgram, was also killed.
The couple was set to travel to Jerusalem next week to celebrate their engagement.
