Border Police officers are currently engaged in an extensive operation to enforce laws against illegal stay in Israel, in accordance with the directives of Police Commissioner Chief Superintendent Dani Levy. Since the start of the operation, 590 illegal residents and 78 suspects who aided them by providing transportation, employment, or shelter have been arrested. In the Jerusalem area and its surrounding region alone, 220 illegal residents have been captured.

Advanced Technological Measures

The operation employs advanced technological and intelligence tools, alongside operational units and extensive resources dedicated to identifying, capturing, and detaining illegal residents and their accomplices. The Investigations and Intelligence Division of the Border Police is leading the investigative efforts into incidents and cases related to unauthorized entry into Israel.

As part of this crackdown, an indictment was filed last Thursday against a 36-year-old resident of Jerusalem who was arrested on February 27, 2025. He was caught transporting four illegal residents in a modified vehicle with a double ceiling to conceal passengers. According to the indictment, each illegal entrant paid the suspect 600 NIS for the journey.

Reinforced Security Presence

Additionally, approximately 3,000 Jerusalem District police officers, Border Police forces, and reinforcement units have been deployed across the city to ensure the safe and orderly conduct of prayers on the Temple Mount. Police forces have been stationed at checkpoints around Jerusalem, in East Jerusalem, and throughout the Old City’s alleyways to safeguard public safety, regulate movement, and ensure freedom of worship while maintaining necessary security precautions.

The security forces have also intensified their presence on major transportation routes to effectively address any potential security threats. The police are committed to preventing hostile elements from exploiting the Ramadan period to incite violence, disrupt public order, or engage in terrorism or any other form of aggression.
