Dozens of illegal entrants were arrested over the past weekend during a targeted Border Police operation in the Jerusalem envelope area. Several accomplices who aided them were also detained.
The Infiltration Attempt
Along Route 443, IDF lookouts spotted several suspects crossing through a water conduit beneath the separation barrier. The suspects boarded a nearby minibus shortly after the breach, but Border Police forces, who were called to the scene, intercepted the vehicle following a short chase.
Sixteen illegal entrants and their driver were discovered inside the minibus.

Another Capture
In a separate incident during the same operation, Border Police officers stopped another minibus near a factory in the Atarot industrial zone, close to the separation barrier. Inside were 17 illegal entrants and the person transporting them. They were all arrested and transferred for further questioning by the Jerusalem Envelope Border Police investigation unit.
Operation Continues
Today (Monday), Border Police forces continued the operation, deploying along the fence and security wall. The officers apprehended dozens more illegal entrants attempting to penetrate Jerusalem by various means.
Overnight and into the morning, operations persisted along the barrier, resulting in additional arrests of illegal entrants who tried to breach the city.
Firm Measures Against Accomplices
Police emphasized that illegal entry offenses provide a foundation for criminal and security-related activity, and in many cases, for terrorism. Anyone who assists illegal entrants bears significant criminal responsibility.
