IDF Strikes Key Hamas Figure Behind Nova Massacre, Hits 50 Terror Targets in Gaza

In a precision airstrike conducted overnight (Wednesday to Thursday), the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) neutralized Muhammad Hesham Zehdi Abu Alrous, a senior Hamas operative in the elite Nukhba unit. Abu Alrous was directly involved in the brutal massacre at the Nova music festival on October 7.

Intelligence efforts spearheaded by the Gaza Division, along with the IDF Intelligence Directorate (AMAN) and Shin Bet, identified Abu Alrous as a high-priority target. His elimination was achieved through a targeted strike by the Israeli Air Force.

50 Terror Targets Struck Across Gaza

In addition to this high-profile elimination, the Israeli Air Force struck approximately 50 terror-related targets across the Gaza Strip over the past 24 hours. These strikes included military structures, weapon storage facilities, rocket launch sites, and weapons manufacturing locations.

The IDF emphasized that all efforts were made to minimize harm to civilians during these operations. Measures included the use of precision-guided munitions, aerial surveillance, and reliance on up-to-date intelligence. However, the IDF reiterated that Hamas continues to exploit Gaza’s civilian population as human shields for its military objectives.

Last Strikes Before a Ceasefire?

Against the backdrop of ongoing hostage negotiations and a proposed six-week ceasefire expected to take effect soon, the IDF stated, “These actions are part of the ongoing effort to ensure the security of the State of Israel.”

Meanwhile, reports indicate that Hamas has retracted previously agreed-upon terms with mediators and Israel regarding the ceasefire deal. Among the contentious issues is Hamas’s demand to dictate the identity of released prisoners, opposing a clause granting Israel veto power over the release of notorious terror leaders.

Hostage Crisis Negotiations Face Setbacks

Israel’s Hostage and Missing Persons Directorate informed families earlier today that Hamas has introduced new demands, contradicting the terms agreed upon in international mediation efforts. The directorate also clarified that the details of the agreement remain unresolved, and negotiation teams are working intensively to finalize a solution.

Families were urged to rely solely on official government sources for updates. In a formal statement, the directorate noted: “The details of the agreement are not yet finalized, and negotiation teams are continuing their efforts to reach a resolution. As such, no official announcement on the success of the negotiations or cabinet meetings has been issued. Families are advised to depend only on information from authorized, official sources.”
