Five days into Operation Gideon’s Chariots, the IDF now controls more than 50% of the Gaza Strip territory. The military’s main objective, according to a report on N12 today (Thursday), is to expand that control to roughly 75% of the area, while isolating Hamas terrorists from the local civilian population.
Isolating Hamas
A senior security official explained that the strategy involves creating a “Mini Gaza”—a move designed to push Hamas out of its comfort zone.
According to the official, the plan is to separate Hamas terrorists from Gaza’s population by setting up checkpoints and control points.
“We will establish checkpoints and control stations to screen for Hamas terrorists,” he said.

Estimates suggest that by the end of the operation, only about a quarter of the Strip would remain outside Israeli security control.
The areas where the IDF is already operating include the Jabalia refugee camp, Beit Lahia, and other parts of northern Gaza, where residents have been instructed to evacuate.
Earlier today, IDF Arabic spokesperson Col. Avichay Adraee issued a broad evacuation warning to northern Gaza:
“The IDF is operating in your area with great force. Terrorist organizations continue their activity in the region. Therefore, the IDF will expand its operations in your area to eliminate them. The area you are in is a dangerous combat zone. These terror groups have brought disaster upon you. For your safety, move south immediately.”

“The fighting will continue until all objectives are achieved”
Last night, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a press conference at his office in Jerusalem, responding to questions from political reporters. He focused on the progress of Operation Gideon’s Chariots, the handling of humanitarian aid, regional threats, and the conditions for ending the conflict.
At the outset, Netanyahu outlined the three primary goals of the operation: the defeat of Hamas, the return of the hostages, and preventing Gaza from posing a future threat.
The Prime Minister emphasized that Israel would maintain full security control over all areas of the Strip at the end of the operation.
He also stated that Israel is prepared to agree to a temporary ceasefire if the opportunity arises, but made it clear: “The emphasis is on temporary only—the fighting will continue until all objectives are achieved.”
He concluded with a message of resolve and assurance:
“We’ve achieved a great deal, but there is still a way to go. We will do everything to bring our sons home—and ensure the future security of Israel.”
