As large crowds moved along the pre-designated routes to reach a humanitarian aid distribution site in northern Gaza, IDF forces identified several suspects approaching from an unauthorized direction, deviating from the marked civilian pathways.
The soldiers initially fired warning shots. When the suspects did not retreat, additional fire was directed near them. The incident occurred about half a kilometer from the aid distribution site and was intended to prevent any direct threat to the troops.

Reports of Casualties Under Review
Initial reports from Gaza have mentioned possible casualties as a result of the gunfire. However, as of this time, the IDF states that there is no confirmation of these claims and that the incident is under investigation. The military emphasized that the suspects were individuals who approached the forces outside the organized civilian flow heading toward the aid zones.

Civilian Aid Without Hamas Involvement
It is worth noting that the aid distribution to Gaza residents is carried out by an independent civilian organization managed by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), a U.S.-based company that works to deliver shipments directly to the local population without any involvement from Hamas. The IDF stated: “IDF forces do not prevent Gaza residents from reaching the humanitarian aid distribution zones,” and emphasized that the gunfire was “directed at suspects who approached in a way that posed a threat to the forces.”
Meanwhile, the organization managing the aid operation is currently considering setting up a women-only distribution route, aiming to provide safer, more orderly, and more accessible access to aid. Field operations continue, and this morning 21 trucks carrying more than 1.1 million food rations arrived at the distribution point in Tel al-Sultan for delivery to Gaza residents.
