A suspected terror attack was thwarted this morning (Tuesday) at the Gitai Avisar Junction in northern Samaria. A Palestinian woman armed with a knife attempted to stab Israeli soldiers near a bus stop. Troops responded swiftly, neutralizing the attacker. No Israeli injuries were reported.

Local Official: “Incitement by Palestinian Authority Fuels Terror”
Yossi Dagan, head of the Samaria Regional Council, responded to the incident by blaming the Palestinian Authority’s continued incitement:
“This morning’s foiled attack is a direct result of the Palestinian Authority’s ongoing incitement to violence. Operational responses alone aren’t enough—we must restore real deterrence.”
Dagan urges a stronger stance from Israeli leadership:
“I call on the Defense Minister and the Prime Minister to order the demolition of the terrorist’s home tonight. That’s the only language terrorists understand.” He added, “The people of Israel are stronger than terrorism. The right response is to continue constructing, settling, and reclaiming sovereignty across Judea and Samaria.”

Background: A Site of Repeated Attacks
Gitai Avisar Junction has seen multiple attacks over the years targeting both Israeli soldiers and civilians. The most recent deadly incident occurred in December 2024, when 46-year-old Samer Hussein from the village of Einabus opened fire at a bus waiting at the junction en route from Ariel to Tel Aviv. Nine people were wounded, three critically. Hussein, who had previously served time in Israeli prison, was shot and killed at the scene by IDF soldiers and an armed civilian.
