In response to intense clashes in southern Syria, the IDF has begun operating a mobile frontline triage facility near the village of Khader (or Hader). This is a humanitarian measure intended to provide initial medical treatment to the Druze population, which has found itself in distress due to recent developments.

Israel’s defense establishment is closely monitoring the situation and has clarified that the assistance is intended solely to preserve life and help Druze civilians suffering from violence and injury.

Background: Clashes in Southern Syria
The decision to establish the facility follows clashes that erupted around Damascus and southern Syria between regime forces and the Druze population. The violence was reportedly triggered by a voice recording attributed to a Druze individual, which sparked tension with Sunni groups over allegations of insulting the honor of the Prophet Muhammad.

The village of Khader has become a particularly sensitive flashpoint, as Syrian regime forces cracked down harshly on Druze groups. The response led to widely shared footage on Syrian social media of violence and killings.

Border Police Work to Maintain Order
Alongside the activation of the mobile facility, Border Police forces have been deployed in Khader to maintain public order.

This operation is considered historic for the Israel Border Police (Magav). It marks the first time Border Police forces are operating on Syrian soil as part of an official mission. Magav Commander, Commissioner Barik Yitzhak visited the area and stated: “Your presence here is not just historic – it reflects the true essence of the Border Police.”

Commitment to the Druze Community
Druze communities in Israel and abroad expressed their appreciation to the IDF and Israeli security forces for the humanitarian effort. One Israeli Druze resident told Rega NEWS: “We’ve been fighting shoulder to shoulder for 76 years. Just as you went through the Holocaust – don’t let another massacre happen again.”
