Acting on ISA (Shin Bet) intelligence, Israeli Air Force fighter jets carried out a precision strike overnight (Monday to Tuesday) on a Hezbollah target in Beirut’s Dahiyeh district—one of the terror group’s strongholds in Lebanon. According to reports, several individuals were killed or wounded in the strike.

Strike Targeted Senior Hezbollah Operative
According to the IDF Spokesperson’s announcement, the strike targeted a senior Hezbollah terrorist who had recently been guiding Hamas operatives in Lebanon and assisting them in planning a major attack intended to target Israeli civilians in the immediate future.  “Due to the immediate threat the terrorist posed”, the IDF stated, action was taken “to eliminate him and removed the threat. The IDF and ISA will continue to operate to prevent any threat posed to the civilians of the State of Israel.”

The IDF and Shin Bet emphasized that they would continue to act relentlessly and without compromise to remove any threat to the citizens of Israel—whether from the west, south, or north. This marks the second strike in Beirut since the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah took effect.

Another Beirut Strike Just Last Week
As previously reported, this past Friday the IDF struck a Hezbollah drone storage facility operated by the group’s air unit (Unit 127), also located in the Dahiyeh neighborhood. The site had been built in the heart of a civilian area. The IDF Spokesperson noted that this is yet another example of Hezbollah’s cynical use of civilians as human shields.

That strike came in response to the launch of two rockets toward the Upper Galilee, a blatant violation of the understanding with Lebanon. The IDF issued evacuation warnings to civilians before the strike but made clear that the State of Lebanon bears responsibility for what occurs within its territory.

Defense Minister Israel Katz stated prior to the strike that Beirut would share Kiryat Shmona’s fate, making it clear that if northern Israeli towns did not enjoy peace—neither would Beirut.
