This morning (Tuesday), security forces, under the guidance of the Shin Bet, eliminated the leader of the Hamas terror organization in Jenin. The daring operation began with activities from the undercover units of the Border Police in conjunction with IDF forces from the Menashe Brigade, which oversees the Jenin and Tulkarm areas, and guided by precise intelligence from the Shin Bet. The operations were aimed at apprehending the leader of the Hamas terror organization in the area. During the operation and after exchanges of gunfire, the fighters eliminated the terrorist Isar Saadi, the leader of the organization, as well as another armed terrorist. Additionally, they arrested three wanted individuals.
Forces Locate Weapons
In a search conducted by the forces in the building where the terrorist was hiding, they located weapons including an M-16 rifle, a handgun, and additional weaponry. Furthermore, the forces neutralized another armed terrorist who posed a threat to them in the area. The apprehended suspects and the confiscated weaponry were transferred to security forces for further handling, and there were no injuries to our forces.
The Escape of the Terrorists
Defense Minister Israel Katz commented on the successful operation: “We will continue to pursue terror with strength and eliminate terrorists everywhere. The IDF, in coordination with the Border Police, today neutralized Isar Saadi, the head of the Hamas terror organization in Jenin. The intensified assault in the Jenin refugee camp causes terrorists to flee and expose themselves to our forces’ activities. We will continue to pursue terror with strength and thwart it everywhere.”
The Counter-Terrorism Operation in Northern Samaria Continues
During the night, IDF, Border Police, and Shin Bet forces expanded the operation in northern Samaria to additional areas in Jenin. IDF forces began operating in another neighborhood in the city of Jenin, among other activities with forces in military vehicles. This action is part of a series of successful operations by the IDF over the past month. In February, security forces eliminated approximately 25 terrorists, including arms dealers and terror operatives who planned attacks and posed threats to our forces. Additionally, about 350 wanted individuals were arrested, around 120 weapons were confiscated, and hundreds of explosives were destroyed.
