The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced early Thursday that it had eliminated Ahmad Adnan, a senior commander in Hezbollah’s Radwan Force, during an overnight airstrike in the Derdeghaya area of southern Lebanon.

The strike was directed by IDF Northern Command’s 91st Division, as part of ongoing efforts to target operatives involved in attacks against Israeli civilians and military personnel.

A Direct Threat to Israel
Adnan, commander of a battalion within the elite Radwan Force, was behind numerous terror plots aimed at the Israeli home front. In recent months, he had continued planning attacks and was considered a direct threat to Israeli national security, the military said.

“The IDF will continue to act against any threat to Israeli citizens,” the military added in a statement. “Our campaign to deter and neutralize terror operatives will persist.”

Earlier Thursday, the IDF reported spotting several Hezbollah operatives transferring weapons in the Yohmor area of southern Lebanon.

Wider Context: Northern Command Drills Underway
The strike comes as the IDF conducts a large-scale, multi-division training exercise in Northern Command. The drill simulates a wide range of defensive and offensive scenarios, including the protection of border communities and joint operations across all security branches operating in the region.
