Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said today (Thursday), during a meeting with Samaria Regional Council Head Yossi Dagan, that Hungary will continue to support Israel despite the steps being taken by the European Union. This marks the first time an official representative from Judea and Samaria has met with a foreign minister of a European Union member state. The meeting took place in the wake of French President Emmanuel Macron’s initiative for unilateral recognition of a Palestinian state.
During the meeting, the Hungarian foreign minister was shown maps and photographs highlighting the strategic and security significance of the settlements in Judea and Samaria to Israel’s continued existence. He was also briefed on biblical sites in the region—known as the Land of the Bible—and was given an in-depth overview of the ongoing delegitimization campaign targeting the settlements, the IDF, and the State of Israel.

You Can Always Count on Us
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Hungarian foreign minister delivered a clear and unequivocal message of support in front of the cameras:
“I greatly appreciate this meeting with you, Mr. Head of the Samaria Regional Council. It was a wonderful experience. You can always count on us. May God bless you.”
