This week, Eli Sharabi will arrive in New York, where he will testify before the ambassadors of the UN Security Council about the harrowing days he spent in Hamas captivity.
This initiative, led by Israel’s ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, is being done in cooperation with the American delegation to the UN, with the aim of elevating the issue of hostages to the international agenda and demanding increased pressure for their release.

We Will Not Be Silent Until We Bring Everyone Back
Sharabi, who has already met with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House, is expected to share with the representatives of the Security Council member states the atrocities, starvation, abuse, and violence he experienced while in captivity.

Ambassador Danon stated: “We are excited about Eli Sharabi’s arrival at the UN. Just as every Israeli was horrified when they heard his testimony, I have no doubt that the ambassadors of the Security Council will no longer be able to remain indifferent. We will not stop and will not be silent until we return all the hostages home.”

Whoever Saves One Life, Saves a Whole World
As mentioned, this is Sharabi’s second visit to the United States since being released from Hamas captivity in the hostage deal, after recently meeting with Trump and other senior officials, including UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
In his meeting with Trump, Sharabi, along with other former hostages, presented the president with a gold plaque inscribed: “Whoever saves one life, is considered to have saved an entire world.”
