In recent weeks, Israel’s Shin Bet and the Northern District Police Major Crimes Unit foiled a car-ramming attack planned by Jihad Zrikat, a resident of Kafr Kanna linked to Hamas, who intended to target IDF soldiers.

Zrikat was arrested in February in a joint operation by the Shin Bet and Israeli police. During his arrest, authorities discovered handwritten wills, Hamas instruction books detailing how to carry out terror attacks, and additional Islamist materials in his possession.

Attempting to Carry Out His Plan

According to the investigation, Zrikat was motivated by violent incidents and decided to carry out a car-ramming attack against IDF soldiers, making efforts to execute his plan. Following the investigation, the prosecution is expected to file an indictment against him today, led by attorney Rian Salah.

Israel’s security agencies emphasized that they take very seriously any involvement of Israeli citizens in activities that threaten national security and civilian safety. They reaffirmed their commitment to pursuing justice against all those engaged in terrorism.
