Have We Found Noah’s Ark?

In a startling development, a team of American researchers claims to have found possible remains of Noah’s Ark. Ground-penetrating radar reveals a ship-like structure that matches the Biblical description.

An international team of scientists recently announced a discovery that could shed new light on one of the most iconic stories in the Bible: Noah’s Ark.

During a study conducted at the Durupınar site in eastern Turkey, researchers identified a boat-shaped geological formation whose dimensions closely resemble the Biblical description of the Ark. Could this be the actual Ark—or simply a remarkable natural formation?

The Location of the Ark
The site lies about 30 kilometers south of Mount Ararat, at an elevation of roughly 2,000 meters above sea level. It was first documented in 1959 by Turkish Army Captain İlhan Durupınar, after earthquakes and heavy rains washed away the mud surrounding the formation—revealing it to a Kurdish shepherd.

The uncovered shape resembles a massive ship—approximately 150 meters long, 26 meters wide, and 16 meters high—remarkably similar to the Biblical specifications found in Genesis: 300 cubits in length, 50 cubits in width, and 30 cubits in height.

Advanced Scans Uncover Exciting Clues
To test the theory that this could indeed be Noah’s Ark, the researchers used cutting-edge technology, including ground-penetrating radar.

The scans revealed a tunnel roughly four meters long running through the center of the structure, as well as three distinct underground layers—eerily consistent with the Ark’s three decks as described in the Bible.

Andrew Jones, a researcher with the organization “Noah’s Ark Scans,” stated that these findings are precisely what one would expect if the structure were man-made.

According to Jones, the scans revealed central and side corridors within the formation, along with geometric shapes up to six meters deep—possibly indicating rooms beneath what appears to be a deck-like surface.

The Ongoing Search for Biblical Truth
Noah’s Ark has long fascinated scientists and scholars alike. This latest research is part of a broader effort to uncover evidence of the Biblical account, though definitive proof of the Ark’s existence has yet to be found.

Jones emphasized that the goal isn’t necessarily to locate a fully intact structure, but rather to detect chemical residues, remnants of wood, or preserved traces in the soil. He noted that the characteristics observed so far are not typical of ordinary rock formations.

While the new findings have sparked widespread excitement, Jones remains cautious: “We’re not definitively claiming we’ve found the Ark, but the evidence is certainly compelling.”
