From Yeshiva to Tech Leadership: Haredi Engineer Rises to Top at Microsoft

Rabbi Yitzhak Kesselman has been promoted to a senior role as Corporate Vice President for Messaging and Real-Time Analytics at Microsoft Global, making him the most senior Haredi engineer in the company.

Among the First Haredi Employees at Microsoft Israel
Kesselman leads a division comprising 400 employees worldwide, including more than 150 engineers. He joined Microsoft over a decade ago and was among the first Haredi employees at Microsoft Israel, spearheading initiatives to integrate the Haredi community into the tech industry.

Impressive Achievements
Among his notable achievements is the development of real-time data analytics capabilities within Microsoft Fabric, a data management and analysis platform that helps non-technical users extract insights from large datasets. Kesselman has extensive experience in the tech sector, having previously served as a Director at Google and as an Engineering Group Manager at Retalix.

A Unique Journey of Faith and Innovation
Kesselman, 40, is married and a father of five. He was born in Riga, Latvia, immigrated to Israel at the age of six, and grew up in Ramla. He now resides in New York. Throughout his life, he returned to religious observance while studying at a yeshiva alongside earning a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Tel Aviv University. He later served as a technological officer in the IDF, and in 2023, completed his Orthodox rabbinic certification.
