As Tu Bishvat approaches, the Jewish National Fund (JNF-KKL) is set to launch a series of events across Israel, offering tree planting, guided tours, and engaging activities for families. This year, a special memorial forest will be planted in honor of the fallen soldiers and victims of the Iron Swords War. The goal of these nationwide events is to raise awareness about environmental conservation, strengthen the connection to nature, and provide a meaningful outdoor experience.
Family-Friendly Activities for Tu Bishvat
One of the central events, “Plant & Go”, will allow families and groups to plant trees and explore nature in forests across Israel, including Ahihud Forest in the north, Rahat Forest in the south, and the U.S. Independence Park in central Israel. The event will take place on Friday, February 14, 2025 (16th of Shevat), with professional guidance from JNF foresters. Additionally, the “Green Joy Truck” will travel through various communities, offering live performances, musical workshops, and interactive activities for all ages. Participants can also enjoy a festival at the Ilanot Botanical Garden and special guided tours at JNF nurseries and the National Seed Bank in Beit Nehemia.
Renewal and Growth – The Spirit of Tu Bishvat
In alignment with the holiday’s themes of renewal and resilience, JNF will dedicate a new forest in memory of those lost in war, The Iron Swords Memorial Forest. Bereaved families will have the opportunity to plant trees in honor of their loved ones, and each planting site will feature a personalized memorial plaque with a scannable QR code linking to a song selected by the family.
“Even in difficult times, we will continue to plant and grow,” said JNF Chairwoman Yifat Ovadia-Luski, emphasizing the significance of tree planting as a symbol of Israel’s enduring strength and renewal.
