Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar held a meeting this evening (Tuesday) with members of the AIPAC leadership at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Jerusalem. During the meeting, he briefed the organization’s leadership on the latest developments in Gaza and the situation in the Middle East.
The Decision Was Made Several Days Ago
During the meeting, Sa’ar shared the considerations that led to the dramatic decision to take renewed action against Hamas. “Since 2:00 AM, we began attacking in Gaza. The fundamental decision was made several days ago. The Prime Minister and the Shin Bet were authorized to determine the timing.”

Not a Single-Day Attack
Sa’ar also addressed the issue of the hostages, “We are 17 days after the completion of the first phase of the deal. We held negotiations with the aim of extending the first phase, led by President Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff. Witkoff proposed two different plans and Hamas rejected both. We found ourselves at an impasse, without the release of hostages and without military action. This situation cannot continue. We struck Hamas and additional terror targets in Gaza. This is not a one-day attack. We will continue the military operation in the coming days.”
