For families considering Aliyah, here’s a glimpse into the values shaping Israeli classrooms today: the Ministries of Justice and Education have launched a groundbreaking initiative to combat racism and promote social inclusion among teens—in both schools and youth soccer leagues.

The new program, introduced this week, marks a significant step toward cultivating tolerance, identity, and mutual respect in Israel’s next generation.

From the Soccer Field to the Classroom
Led by the Justice Ministry’s Unit for Coordinating the Fight Against Racism and developed in partnership with the Ministry of Education, the initiative features hands-on workshops focused on belonging, inclusion, and equality. Initially launching in five middle school classes and youth soccer clubs, the program is slated to expand to dozens more.

The initiative builds on a successful pilot run last year with the youth teams of Maccabi Haifa, Hapoel Be’er Sheva, and Beitar Jerusalem. Teens who took part reported meaningful shifts in perspective and a growing interest in promoting equality among their peers.

“This Is a Shared Responsibility”
Justice Ministry Director-General Itamar Donenfeld explained:
“Fighting racism isn’t a matter for any single group—it’s a shared responsibility of a society committed to fairness and justice. By investing in education and youth empowerment, we’re laying the foundation for a more inclusive Israel.”

Education Ministry Director-General Meir Shimoni added:
“This effort reflects our core commitment to shaping a respectful, tolerant society. I’m proud of the collaboration—because long-term, systemic change begins with education.”

For parents planning a future in Israel, initiatives like these reflect the country’s growing investment in holistic, values-based education—where academics go hand-in-hand with character development and social awareness.

The program will expand to 22 additional classrooms in the coming school year, continuing to reach students across the country. In Israel’s classrooms, the next generation is learning not only math and science—but empathy, responsibility, and leadership.
