A man in his 60s was injured in a fall on Monday during a hike in Nahal Odem, near Eilat. He was airlifted after being missing for several hours. The difficult terrain required a complex and precise operation by the Lahav rescue unit, in coordination with the Eilat and Eilot regional rescue teams.
Hours Missing – Then Located
The incident occurred during the holiday, when the experienced hiker set out along Nahal Odem in the Eilat region and did not return. After hours of searching, volunteers from the Eilat/Eilot rescue unit located him with injuries across his body following a fall.
The steep slopes and difficult terrain made the mission particularly complex, prompting the decision to activate an aerial rescue operation.

By Helicopter and Rope: A Life-Saving Mission
A rescuer from the Lahav Unit was lowered directly to the site via rope from a police aerial unit helicopter. After securing the injured hiker to a special stretcher, both were lifted into the helicopter and transported to a designated evacuation point, where medical teams were waiting to continue treatment.
According to reports, the hiker’s condition stabilized. His family expressed heartfelt thanks to the rescue teams for their dedication and professionalism.
