Yuval Raphael’s performance of “New Day Will Rise” electrified the Eurovision 2025 Grand Final on Saturday night in Basel, Switzerland, earning her first place in the public vote with 297 points—and second place overall with a total score of 357. Despite global tensions and protests surrounding Israel’s participation, Raphael delivered a stirring, emotional performance that moved viewers across the continent.
Public Overwhelmingly Supported Israel’s Entry
While the national jury vote placed Israel only 15th, giving it only 60 points (including a single maximum 12-point “douze points” from Azerbaijan), the public vote shifted the outcome dramatically. Raphael vaulted to second place overall, just behind Austria’s JJ with his song “Wasted Love,” which scored 436 points.

12 Countries Gave Israel Top Marks
Twelve nations awarded Israel the maximum 12 points in the televote: Azerbaijan, France, Netherlands, Germany, Luxembourg, Sweden, Portugal, United Kingdom, Spain, Switzerland, Belgium, and Australia.

“I’m Here Because of You” – Raphael’s Post-Show Statement
At the post-show press conference, Raphael thanked audiences across Europe: “Turns out you don’t need the judges to reach the top. I have no words—just enormous gratitude for your love. Your voices reached me through the noise. Every time there was booing, I felt the support coming in from Israel and from around the world.”
She also acknowledged the 58 hostages still held in Gaza, expressing hope for their swift return. Referencing the missile alert that interrupted celebrations in Israel during the results, Raphael added: “I’m sorry this is what we’re going through right now. I hope everyone is safe. All I want is to come home to you. Starting tomorrow—I’m with you. In fires, in floods, in sirens—through everything.”
