China’s New Ambassador Visits Israeli Town, Emphasizes Stronger Ties

The Chinese diplomat's visit highlighted opportunities in education, tech, and sustainability; ties with sister city Jinan strengthened.

In his first official city visit since taking office, China’s newly appointed ambassador to Israel, Dr. Xiao Junzheng, spent the weekend in Kfar Saba, underscoring the importance of international partnerships and expressing optimism for deepening ties between Israel and China.

Joined by Notable Chinese-Israeli Delegation
Dr. Xiao was accompanied by Dr. Zheng Bao, the first Chinese physicist to graduate from the Weizmann Institute, and Israeli businessman Yisrael Ashkenazi. The delegation toured historical and innovation sites across the city.

Mayor Rafi Sa’ar welcomed the ambassador, emphasizing the longstanding relationship between Kfar Saba and its Chinese sister city, Jinan. He highlighted shared goals in education exchange programs, high-tech and innovation cooperation, economic partnerships, and environmental sustainability.

“International collaboration is a central pillar of our city’s vision,” said Sa’ar. “We believe in building bridges of friendship and shared opportunity.”

A Vision for Friendship Between Nations
Ambassador Xiao expressed admiration for Kfar Saba’s community initiatives and innovative spirit, stating: “I attach great importance to advancing friendship between our peoples and our nations.” He reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the partnership between Kfar Saba and Jinan, and added: “I sincerely hope to see the safe return of all Israeli hostages soon.”
