The Ministry of Education and the National Ceremonies and Events Division announced this morning (Monday) that internationally renowned Haredi singer Avraham Fried will perform this year at the Israel Prize ceremony, held in honor of Israel’s 77th Independence Day.
Also on stage by Zehava Ben, Sasson Shaulov, Amir Benayoun, Avi Toledano, and his daughter Lihi Toledano.
The Singing Will Reflect the Living Story of the People of Israel
Minister of Education Yoav Kisch stated that this year, special emphasis was placed on selecting singers who represent the diverse layers of Israeli society:
“The Israel Prize is the pinnacle of our national Independence Day celebration — a salute to the Israeli spirit of excellence and contribution to society.
We wanted the songs accompanying the ceremony to reflect the living story of the people of Israel — a connection between deep roots, cultural strength, and great hope for the future.”

The ceremony will take place on Thursday, Independence Day, at 18:30 at the Binyanei Ha’uma International Convention Center in Jerusalem, with the participation of Israel’s top leaders.

A Historic Achievement Half of the Winners Are Women
This year marks a historic achievement, as half of the Israel Prize recipients are women — five out of ten laureates.
According to the Ministry of Education, this milestone is the result of a deliberate policy led by Minister of Education Yoav Kisch, aimed at increasing the representation of women on prize committees and among the nominees submitted by the public.
Among the female laureates:
- Prof. Zohar Shavit (Cultural and Artistic Studies)
- Prof. Dwora Gilula (Literature, Poetry, and Translation)
- Prof. Ruth Kark (Geography and Knowledge of the Land of Israel)
- Prof. Yonina Eldar (Engineering)
- Mrs. Nina Avidar Weiner (Lifetime Achievement)
Among the male laureates:
- Mr. Roni Douek (Lifetime Achievement)
- Prof. Yinon Ben-Neria (Medicine)
- Shlomo Maman (Theatre, Dance, and Opera)
- Prof. Yaron Tzur (History of the Jewish People)
- Belo Simeon Fainaru (Design and Interdisciplinary Art)
