Agam Berger, who returned to Israel at the end of January 2024, will speak next month at Israel’s official Independence Day ceremony in New York. Berger is expected to share her difficult experiences during captivity and deliver a message of hope and courage, calling for the release of the hostages still held in the Gaza Strip. The event will take place under heavy security, against the backdrop of rising antisemitism and heightened tensions in New York since the war began, according to Israel Hayom.
“A message of unity and love for Israel”
Consul Ofir Akunis said: “We are happy and excited to welcome Agam, an inspiring Israeli hero, to the largest Jewish community in the world outside of Israel. Agam is spreading a powerful message of broad national unity, rooted in the values of Jewish tradition and love for Israel.”
Agam Berger playing the violin
Last week, Agam Berger participated in the March of the Living at Auschwitz. Daniel Weiss, a survivor of the Kibbutz Be’eri massacre who lost both of his parents in the attack, sang the Psalm “Shir LaMa’alot” at the Auschwitz extermination camp at the conclusion of the march. Agam accompanied him on a 130-year-old violin that survived the Holocaust.
