David Libi, 19 year old resident of the community of Malakhei HaShalom in the Binyamin region, was killed today (Thursday) during fighting in the Gaza Strip, as a result of an explosive device, the Binyamin Regional Council announced.

Underbelly IED Explosion
In recent months, David had been serving as a civilian employee of the IDF, working through a defense ministry contractor carrying out engineering operations for the military. He operated heavy machinery used to dismantle terrorist infrastructure in the combat zones.

According to preliminary findings, Libi was operating a bulldozer as part of the 401st Brigade combat team in the Jabaliya area when an underbelly IED was detonated against the vehicle. The force of the explosion caused severe damage to the bulldozer, and Libi was killed on the spot.

David Was His Parents’ Firstborn
David was the eldest child of Eliav and Sarah, third-generation pioneers of the Binyamin settlement enterprise—builders and devoted lovers of the Land of Israel. He is survived by his parents and seven siblings.

“Thanks to His Heroism and Sacrifice – The People of Israel Will Triumph”
Israel Ganz, head of the Binyamin Regional Council, paid tribute to him: “David was on the frontlines of the war in Gaza. He showed the highest level of commitment to the mission of defeating the enemy. Numerous terror infrastructures were destroyed thanks to his work.”

Ganz also extended condolences to the entire Libi family: “Thanks to your son’s heroism and sacrifice – the people of Israel will triumph.”
