Sgt. Niv Dayag, a 19-year-old from Ramat HaSharon and a combat soldier in the IDF’s Paratroopers Brigade, Battalion 890, was killed in a vehicle accident during operational activity in the Golan Heights, the IDF Spokesperson announced Friday.
Three Other Soldiers Injured and Evacuated to Hospital
The tragic accident occurred Thursday evening at the Eliad Junction in the southern Golan, near the Ramat Magshimim area. The soldiers were traveling in a military Humvee that crashed into a guardrail, overturned, and caught fire. All passengers in the vehicle were injured.
The report of the crash was received at 7:50 p.m. by Magen David Adom’s emergency hotline (101) in the Jordan region. Paramedics arriving at the scene performed resuscitation efforts on Sgt. Dayag, who was critically injured, but were ultimately forced to pronounce his death.

Two additional soldiers from Battalion 890 and one soldier from the Golan Division’s headquarters (Unit 474) sustained minor injuries. All three were evacuated for medical treatment, and their families have been notified.
Investigation Team Appointed to Probe the Incident
IDF Central Command Chief Maj. Gen. Avi Blot and Northern Command Chief Maj. Gen. Ori Gordin appointed a professional investigation team to examine the circumstances.
“This was a serious car accident,” said MDA paramedic Yossi Mosangad. “One of the soldiers was critically wounded and unconscious. We provided medical care and attempted resuscitation, but his injuries were fatal, and we had to declare his death.”
He added that the three lightly injured soldiers, who were walking at the scene, received initial treatment before being taken to the hospital.
