IDF: “We will continue to dismantle Hamas, this is our mission”

IDF Spokesman Lt. Col. Daniel Hagari issued a statement to the public this evening (Thursday) and said that he will continue to update the public every few days, even when there is no change in the directives of the Home Front Command.

Over the past week, the IDF has improved and increased its readiness and readiness in all arenas, while continuing the collection and attack efforts in the skies over Lebanon and in the various combat zones. The Air Force, the Northern Command, the Intelligence Division, the Operations Division and the Home Front Command work around the clock to maintain security and defense.

In the Central Command, IDF forces arrested about 50 wanted persons throughout Judea and Samaria last week, and increased countermeasures, especially in the area of ​​the threat of explosive devices. As part of a joint operation by the IDF and the Shin Bet in the Jordan Valley, the forces eliminated a major terrorist operative in an exchange of fire, and four more in the air attack, also, many charges and weapons were found and confiscated.

In Gaza, IDF forces continue to fight and carry out offensive operations in Rafah, Khan Yunis and the center of the Gaza Strip. So far, the IDF has eliminated over 17,000 terrorists and destroyed about fifty underground tunnels in the area of ​​the Philadelphia axis. “We are focused on locating, neutralizing and destroying the underground infrastructure in the area,” the IDF spokesman emphasized.

The Chief of Staff, who arrived in Rafah yesterday, approved the plans on the ground and prepared all the options for action in accordance with the decisions of the political echelon. “The significant fighting and its high achievements harm Hamas’ ability to raise its head and rehabilitate itself, and we are determined to persist in this,” said the IDF spokesman.

Regarding the security tensions, the IDF spokesman clarified that there is no change in the directives of the Home Front Command. “The vigilance and vigilance of the public is important, and you will continue to follow the instructions on the official platforms of the IDF Spokesman and the Home Front Command,” he added. Also, Hagari was asked about the report by Hamas about 2 abductees who were seriously injured, and noted that “regarding this report, we do not know how to confirm or expand on it, and this report continues to be part of the same psychological terror that Hamas carries out, against the families, and against the public.”

In response to this morning’s comments in the New York Times by American officials who claimed that the IDF had reached the limit of its capabilities in Gaza, the IDF spokesman responded and said “Our achievements against Hamas are very significant. We will continue to dismantle Hamas, that is our mission. We will continue to do everything we can To bring about the conditions for the return of the abductees home. These are the goals of the war set by the political echelon, and we will realize them.”

Public security alerts and directives are maintained, while maintaining constant contact with the local authorities and the Home Front Command. “If there is a change, we will update immediately,” the IDF spokesman promised.
