Against the backdrop of ongoing fighting in various arenas, the IDF has opened the July-August 2025 enlistment cycle, with thousands of young men and women reporting for significant military service. Particularly notable this year is the enlistment of 66 recruits from families who suffered in the events of October 7, symbolizing strength, commitment to the security of the state, and genuine hope.
Among the recruits are 872 olim (new immigrants), 479 lone soldiers, and youths from national service programs and the mechinot (pre-army academies). The youngest recruit is 17.6 years old, a participant in the Talpiot program, and the oldest is a 35-year-old doctor.
New Records and New Units
For the first time, young recruits are joining the “Ari” Battalion of the Home Front Command’s Rescue and Training Brigade. In early September, another enlistment cycle will be held for the “Hashmonaim” Brigade. Recruitment programs have been redesigned to meet the IDF’s operational needs and ensure continuity in combat, while also providing tailored support to thousands of prospective soldiers, many of whom have been affected by the war.

The recruits will receive a grant for purchasing personal equipment and will be personally guided by the Meitav unit, which is preparing for a sensitive and fair recruitment process for all sectors. The gender distribution of recruits is 62.75% men and 37.25% women, coming from across Israel and around the world – from Russia and the United States to Mongolia and Sri Lanka.
