Ofri Yacobi, 17, from the Hevel Modi’in Orienteering Club, won a gold medal at the European Championships for girls under 18, held in the Czech Republic. Ofri not only won the 3 km sprint event but did so as the youngest competitor in her category, finishing five seconds ahead of her Latvian and Swiss rivals.
The victory was achieved thanks to skilled map reading, precise route choices, and excellent technical execution in the final stretch. Two checkpoints before the finish line, Ofri accelerated, never looked back, and made history.
