In the early hours of the morning (IST), Trump posted on X: “We have completed our very successful attack on the three Nuclear sites in Iran, including Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan. All planes are now outside of Iran air space. A full payload of BOMBS was dropped on the primary site, Fordow. All planes are safely on their way home. Congratulations to our great American Warriors. There is not another military in the World that could have done this. NOW IS THE TIME FOR PEACE! Thank you for your attention to this matter.”
Six Bombers
According to a Fox News report, six American B-2 bombers took off from Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri and dropped six GBU-57 bunker-buster bombs on the underground facility at Fordow. CNN reported a total of 12 bombs were dropped by the six bombers.
The New York Times noted the B-2 bombers flew continuously for 37 hours from Missouri, refueling midair several times due to the long distance.
The bombs, known as Massive Ordnance Penetrators (MOP), each weighing over 13 tons, represent the most powerful U.S. strike capability against deeply buried targets. This marks the first operational use of these weapons in history. The attack aimed to destroy the Fordow nuclear facility, located approximately 90 meters underground and considered one of the most secure sites in Iran’s nuclear program.
The strikes are believed to have caused severe damage to all three sites, especially Fordow. Western sources say Iran’s uranium enrichment and production capabilities were significantly impacted, requiring the rebuilding of entire infrastructure – a process that could take years.
Nuclear Submarines Join the Attack
Alongside the airstrikes, two American Navy nuclear submarines launched about 30 Tomahawk cruise missiles at nuclear sites in Natanz and Isfahan – also considered critical strategic sites in Iran’s nuclear program. The missiles were fired from over 700 kilometers away, reportedly striking multiple underground targets and production infrastructure.
“We Will Not Allow Iran to Get the Bomb”
President Donald Trump confirmed the strikes in a speech from the White House: “Iran’s key nuclear enrichment facilities have been
completely and totally obliterated”. he declared. “Iran, the bully of the Middle East, must now make peace. If they do not – will be far larger future attacks will be far greater and a lot easier.”
He continued: “For 40 years, Iran has been saying ‘Death to America, Death to Israel.’ They have been killing our people, blowing off
their arms blowing off their legs with roadside bombs – that was their specialty. We lost over 1,000 people, and hundreds of thousands throughout the Middle East and around the world have died as a direct result of their hate.”
Changing History
Just before Trump’s address, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu thanked him for the strike. In a video message, Netanyahu said, “First comes strength – then peace.” He called Trump’s decision “brave” and said it would “change history.”
