President Isaac Herzog today (Wednesday) visited the Ramat David Air Force Base at the height of Operation “Rising Lion.” The visit, led by base commander Col. A., showcased the operational activities of both fighter and helicopter squadrons participating in defense and combat missions across multiple fronts.

“The Most Intense Tension the Squadron Has Faced”
During the tour, Herzog spoke with soldiers and commanders and received an operational briefing on missions over Iran, Gaza, and other arenas. Air Force Commander Maj. Gen. Tomer Bar also joined a phone call with the President, expressing deep appreciation for the personnel’s efforts.

Maj. P., deputy commander of Squadron 101, shared: “The tension before the mission was the most intense we’ve experienced in the squadron since the war began.”

“We Understand the Scope of the Mission”
Maj. Y., head of the technical wing in Squadron 101, spoke about the weight of the moment: “We understand the scope of the mission, we are prepared for every scenario and ready to give everything we have. We send strength to the citizens and feel strength coming back from them. Keep following the instructions—we will win this war, unequivocally.”

Maj. P. reflected on the trauma of October 7: “For those of us who live and breathe the military, we walk around with an open wound—October 7—for which we feel deep responsibility.”

“There’s something in this campaign that feels, in some way, like a coming full circle, but the circle won’t fully close until we bring all the hostages home,” he emphasized.

“We’re fighting on every front—alongside our missions over Iran, we’re striking Gaza around the clock. That mission remains in our sights. The safety of Israel’s citizens is our sole purpose. I believe we’re fulfilling our purpose in the purest way,” he added.

“A Monumental and Noble Mission of Historic Scale”
“You are doing this for your families, your friends, and your country. A monumental and noble mission—truly of historic scale. We could not allow Iran to reach nuclear capability in such a short time,” President Herzog told the soldiers.

“I must say, the Air Force has weathered many challenges in recent years, and the fact that today the people of Israel recognize its strength, importance, and capabilities—and the quality of the men and women serving in it—is a vital message. Thank you all very much,” Herzog concluded.
