Between Missiles and Miracles, A New Life Begins in Jerusalem

Just as war broke out, with the IDF striking Iran and sirens blaring in Jerusalem, Maj. N. from the 7th Brigade made it back from Gaza in time for his daughter's birth. Mother Orah: "Here in the delivery room, we disconnected from the outside tension—and focused on what truly matters."

As Israel launched Operation Rising Lion (Am KaLavi) against Iran and air raid sirens wailed across Jerusalem, a remarkable moment of new life unfolded: Maj. N., a company commander in the 7th Armored Brigade, managed to briefly leave Khan Younis, Gaza and arrive at the delivery room in Hadassah Ein Kerem—just as his third daughter was being born.

“We were in the eye of the storm—and yet it was a pure moment”
Maj. N., a career officer leading his company in combat in southern Gaza, had been away from home for many weeks. As the due date approached, he and his wife Orah—a medical intern and mother of two—tried to find a window where he could be by her side. “The incredible team in the delivery ward at Hadassah Ein Kerem was sensitive and deeply understood the situation, working with us to time the induction,” Orah shared.

“The midwives understood my desire to give birth during this rare window, and as N. made his way to Hadassah, they prepared me for the induction procedure.”

A medical team with full hearts
The couple was full of gratitude for the medical team. “We were blessed with a wonderful team, led by midwife Deborah and then Naomi. They were fantastic—attentive, calm, and caring,” Orah said from Maternity Ward D, where mother and baby remained together after the birth.

A name born of the moment
“We had already chosen a name before the birth and had agreed on it,” the couple recounted. “But that night, when our daughter was born, it became clear to us we had to pick a new name.” Inspired by what the country experienced that night, they said: “It’s not every day that Israel strikes Iran—and that same night, our daughter was born too.”
