Big news for anyone living in or moving to Israel: the National Infrastructure Committee (NIC) has just approved plans to establish four new public transportation terminals in the cities of Kiryat Gat, Kiryat Malakhi, Ashdod, and Hadera.

These modern terminals will enhance local and regional public transport networks and are part of Israel’s nationwide effort to expand electric bus infrastructure—making travel cleaner, quieter, and more reliable.

Here’s What’s Coming:

  • Kiryat Gat
A new terminal and overnight parking facility covering about 15 dunams (3.7 acres), with space for 120 buses. It will serve the city’s industrial zone and connect to Route 35, a major regional interchange developed by Netivei Israel.
  • Kiryat Malakhi
The only facility of its kind in the area—26 dunams (6.4 acres) with room for 200 buses. This terminal will support both local and intercity routes, and construction will be coordinated with nearby gas and power infrastructure.
  • Ashdod
A major upgrade for this thriving coastal city: a 50-dunam (12.3-acre) overnight bus depot with 400 bays for standard and articulated buses. The site will be integrated into the Ashdod–Ashkelon BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) system, offering faster, dedicated-lane service for commuters and beachgoers alike.
  • Hadera
A 48-dunam (11.8-acre) terminal and parking lot near the municipal stadium and the future train station. It will host 320 buses and provide a crucial connection point for residents of northern and central Israel.

All facilities will include rest areas for drivers, electric bus charging stations, and operational support buildings—vital infrastructure for a growing population.

Why It Matters—Especially If You’re New Here
Whether you’re planning your aliyah or already settling in, reliable public transportation can make a world of difference. These terminals will support more frequent, dependable, and eco-friendly bus service in both urban centers and outlying areas—giving newcomers better access to jobs, schools, and communities.

According to the Ministry of Transport, this is part of a much larger national initiative to build hundreds of transit facilities across the country. The planning process is being coordinated closely with local municipalities, the Ministry of Defense, and the Israel Ports Company to ensure strategic growth and smooth implementation.
