Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, responded this morning (Wednesday) to the recent American nuclear proposal conveyed by President Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, and rejected it outright.

According to Khamenei, the offer contradicts the principles of Iranian independence, particularly the motto “We are capable”, which reflects the country’s resistance to foreign dependence. Reports indicate that the U.S. proposal included the establishment of an international corporation for civilian uranium enrichment – but Tehran has rejected the idea.

Israel’s Assessment
Israeli officials are monitoring the developments closely and believe that negotiations between Washington and Tehran are on the verge of collapse. Journalist Tamir Morag reported that political sources he spoke with say an agreement seems more distant than ever, and that Iran’s refusal to allow international oversight of its nuclear program increases the likelihood of escalation.

Israel assesses that if the negotiations fail, the possibility of an Israeli strike—potentially in coordination with the U.S.—will become very real. This week, the U.S. President denied reports that the proposed agreement would permit Iran to enrich uranium.
