“I Just Want to Hug My Mother”
During the launch, Sharabi—who was released after 491 days in Hamas captivity—shared his personal story, one that did not end on the day he was freed.
“I knew my family was waiting for me—not in the way I had dreamed, but still my beloved family: my mother, my sisters, and my brother Sharon. I heard about Yossi two days before he was kidnapped and killed,” Sharabi said in his speech at the event. “So everything funnels into a great deal of loss and grief—but even so, after five minutes of crying and sorrow, all I want is to hug my mother,” he continued.

“I’m Strong, I’m Moving Forward with All My Strength”
At the end of his remarks, Sharabi thanked those in attendance and added: “I’m okay. I’m strong. I’m moving forward with all my strength. I’m very, very happy about the birth of this book. There are still good people helping me along the way—people who have opened their homes and their hearts to me. There are 58 hostages still being held. I believe—and truly believe—that they will all come back to us.”

Sharabi is currently delivering a lecture series titled Eli Sharabi: The Light at the End of the Tunnel.
