The Arabic-language Sky News channel reported Monday morning that, according to its sources, The U.S. President Donald Trump is expected to announce a ceasefire in Gaza within days as part of a deal to secure the release of Israeli hostages. In light of these developments, an Israeli delegation is reportedly expected to travel to Cairo.
Resuming Negotiations
The report also stated that Trump, together with Palestinian-American businessman Bishara Bahbah, is preparing to relaunch indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas over a ceasefire agreement. The initiative is said to be led by the United States through its envoy, Steve Witkoff.
According to the network, Israel has been asked to delay military escalation and allow for the expanded delivery of humanitarian aid, with the goal of preparing the ground for renewed negotiations. Sky News claims the Israeli delegation is expected in Cairo on Monday to discuss restarting the talks. Israel has not officially confirmed the trip.
Military Pressure Is the Key to a Deal
Alongside Washington’s call for a ceasefire, some voices in Israel maintain that only sustained military pressure will bring about the release of the remaining hostages. A senior IDF officer directly involved in managing the Gaza campaign stated that Hamas does not intend to release all hostages at once and plans to retain some for later stages.

“They’re playing a game,” the officer told journalist Yossi Yehoshua. “What brings Hamas to the table is military pressure. That’s what has brought hostages back so far.”
He added that only determined ground operations—those that directly target Hamas command structures—yield results. “Experience shows that when we apply pressure, Hamas responds. Not promises, not messages, not condemnations—only relentless military pressure brings the captors to the negotiating table.”
Five Divisions in the Strip
Meanwhile, the IDF continues operations across the Gaza Strip as part of Operation “Gideon’s Chariots.” Five divisions, including infantry and armored brigades, are deployed across the Strip, maintaining control over key areas and systematically clearing them of terrorists, weapons, and infrastructure.
