In a moment filled with pride and emotion, 15 students from the Saled Special Education School in Kfar Saba took part in a symbolic “Beret March” graduation ceremony alongside IDF commando soldiers. The event, part of the “Special in Uniform” program, was held last week at the Commando Base in Beit Lid for the fifth consecutive year.
Commanders, Families, and Community Show Support
The event was attended by the IDF Central Command Chief, unit commanders, students’ families, and the school staff, led by principal Vered Ben Dror. Together, they applauded the students who wore IDF uniforms and marched proudly alongside elite soldiers.
They Inspire All of Us
Mayor Rafi Sa’ar of Kfar Saba, who attended the ceremony, said: “The students of Saled School prove just how far determination, faith, and partnership can go. Watching them march proudly in uniform alongside commando soldiers is moving and reminds us of the power of community and inclusion.”
He added that the students are “an inspiration to all of us”, embodying values of belonging and mutual respect that are central to the city’s educational vision.
“Special in Uniform”: Path to Independence and Employment
The “Special in Uniform” program was founded about a decade ago with a mission to integrate youth with disabilities into the IDF. The broader goal is to prepare them for civilian employment and independent living.
Participants gain hands-on experience in structured military environments, working alongside other soldiers. This inclusive model not only empowers the youth but also fosters empathy and acceptance among their peers in uniform.
