NORTHERN ISRAEL / SOUTHERN LEBANON – An Israeli security official told Al Arabiya on Friday that the IDF continues to share coordinated intelligence with the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) regarding Hezbollah’s military infrastructure—but when Lebanon fails to act, Israel does.

If the Army Doesn’t Confiscate the Weapons, We Strike
According to the official, Israel is transferring precise coordinates of Hezbollah weapons caches, command centers, and military outposts to both the Lebanese military and government officials. However, when the Lebanese army fails to confiscate the weapons or act on the intelligence, the IDF carries out direct strikes—from the air or ground.

“There is a race over control of the weapons,” the source said, “when we see the army isn’t seizing them—we bomb.”

Hezbollah Dictates Lebanese Military Movement
The official emphasized that in many cases, Hezbollah—not the Lebanese state—determines when and where the Lebanese army is allowed to operate. The terror group still holds strategic weapons it refuses to relinquish, despite international agreements.

We Are Not Leaving the Five Strategic Hilltops
In response to Hezbollah’s continued efforts to rearm and rebuild in southern Lebanon—in violation of UN Security Council resolutions and ceasefire agreements—the IDF has vowed to maintain its presence: “We are not withdrawing from the five hilltops under our control—until the threat is removed.” The statement comes as daily IDF strikes continue across southern Lebanon, with backing from Western partners and diplomatic cover.

Lebanon’s Failure to Disarm Hezbollah
Despite Lebanon’s formal commitment to assert sovereignty in the south and disarm Hezbollah, Israel continues to detect weapons smuggling, militant regrouping, and reconstruction of military infrastructure. Israel’s response has been consistent and forceful, reflecting what officials call a zero-tolerance policy for Hezbollah’s posturing.
