Since Thursday morning, approximately 15,000 students—religious and secular, veteran citizens and new immigrants—have arrived in Jerusalem from all over the country. The students are taking part in an immersive journey through the city in celebration of Jerusalem Day. According to the Ministry of Education, they are participating in a variety of tours at key heritage and historical sites, including Armon Hanatziv and the Seam Line, the Nachlaot neighborhood, Ammunition Hill, the former municipal border, and the “From Menorah to Menorah” route—from the Knesset to the Jewish Quarter.

Throughout the day, the students are engaging in sessions with guides and taking part in meaningful discussion circles designed to connect them to the stories of the fighters, builders, and dreamers who helped make Jerusalem the united capital of the State of Israel. Later in the day, they visited the Old City and the Western Wall.

The youth rally features performances, music, and stories of inspiration
The day will conclude with a central youth rally at Sultan’s Pool, held under the theme “One People with One Heart – Embracing the Children of the South.” The rally will include live performances, musical segments, and inspirational stories about national unity. The education system is also marking the Memorial Day for the Victims of Ethiopian Jewry, in remembrance of the 4,000 members of the Beta Israel community who perished on their journey to Israel.

Strengthening the commitment to pass the torch from generation to generation
Minister of Education Yoav Kisch commented on the occasion: “The Ministry of Education is leading a national embrace of Jerusalem—the beating heart of the State of Israel and the shared heart of all its citizens. On this day, we strengthen our sense of belonging, the value of unity, and the commitment to pass the torch from generation to generation.”
