Among the thousands attending the EAT Tel Aviv food festival this week, one booth stood out in particular: Azerbaijan — a Shiite Muslim country and a close ally of Israel — hosted an official food stall featuring a strictly kosher menu.

Azerbaijan was the only country at the event to be officially represented by its government. The festival is considered one of the largest and most prestigious culinary events in the world. The booth is operated by the Azerbaijan Tourism Board (ATB), in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Israel, and serves authentic dishes from the Caucasus region. These are prepared by Chef Moti Yevdayev, an Israeli of Azerbaijani descent.

Promoting the country as a travel destination for Israelis
In addition to the food, the booth features images and videos from Azerbaijan, aiming to immerse Israeli visitors in the local atmosphere and culture — and to further strengthen the warm ties between the two countries.

This culinary effort in Tel Aviv is part of a broader initiative by Azerbaijani authorities to promote the country as a tourist destination for Israelis, with an emphasis on tradition, hospitality, and accessibility to kosher observance for Jewish visitors.
