SAMARIA, ISRAEL – The family of Tzeela Gaz, who was murdered in last week’s shooting terror attack near Bruchin, has announced the donation of her organs—bringing light to others even in death. Her corneas were recovered and will be transplanted into two patients, one of them a child.
“She always brought light in her life—and now in her death, she continues to give,” said her husband, Chananel Gez.
She Helped Two People to See
Five days after the deadly shooting in Samaria, Tzeela’s family requested that her organs be donated. According to the National Transplant Center, both of her corneas were successfully recovered at Beilinson Hospital. One cornea has already been transplanted into a child at Schneider Children’s Medical Center. The other is scheduled for transplant at Beilinson.
A Legacy of Giving, Even in Death
“Tzeela always looked for the good,” said her husband. “She gave light in everything she did, and we made sure that even now she would give two people not just sight—but eyes that seethe good.”
Organ donation in Israel is coordinated by the National Transplant Center.
Tragic Night in Samaria
Last week, Tzeela was shot and killed during a terrorist attack late Wednesday night near the community of Bruchin. She and her husband, Chananel, were on their way to the hospital’s maternity ward in anticipation of the birth of their fourth child. Chananel sustained minor injuries. Their baby was delivered via emergency C-section in critical condition.
Yesterday, Schneider Hospital reported a slight improvement in the newborn’s medical situation.
