Two suspects who crossed the border from Jordan into Israel this morning (Sunday) and reached Moshav Yardena were apprehended by IDF forces. They were handed over to the security services for further investigation. No injuries were reported among Israeli forces.
This is the second time in two days that individuals have breached the border fence and entered Israel. The infiltrators caught this morning are Sri Lankan nationals and migrant workers. The IDF spokesperson confirmed the incident is being investigated.
In a conversation with “RegaNEWS,” Dekel Yosef, the security coordinator (Ravshatz) of Moshav Yardena, described the tense moments:
“A resident called me at 07:14 and said that two people were sitting on his porch. He didn’t know if they were infiltrators from Jordan or just workers. I rushed to the scene with the company commander, and sure enough—they were Jordanian infiltrators sitting outside his home. It ended in a miracle. This was a house with a husband, wife, and four young children. If they had had motive beyond infiltration, I don’t even want to think about what might have happened.”

State of the Fence
Yosef explained that the infiltrators had remained in the moshav for at least an hour. Together with an IDF unit, he retraced their path:
“The border fence here dates back to the 1960s and is completely rusted. It’s so old you could cut through it with scissors. After the incident we had on Saturday in the Jordan Valley, this situation isn’t reassuring for residents. I expect the entire fence to be replaced, cameras to be installed—the border here is completely exposed, and the next threat will likely come through this area.”
Call for Increased Vigilance
The Ravshatz emphasized the importance of public alertness and issued the following guidance:
“Don’t open the door if you see a suspicious individual. Don’t go outside to confront them—you can’t know if it’s just an infiltrator or something worse. Avoid contact, and report anything suspicious immediately.”
Concern Over Future Incidents
According to Yosef, residents of Moshav Yardena and neighboring communities are worried about the possibility of future infiltrations, particularly given the current security situation in the region.
“I expect the responsible authorities to act to strengthen the border—replace the fence and deploy security cameras to prevent further breaches.”
