This evening (Tuesday), the IDF and the Shin Bet carried out a targeted strike against Hamas operatives inside a command-and-control compound constructed in underground infrastructure beneath the European Gaza Hospital in Khan Younis, in the southern Gaza Strip.
Prior to and during the strike, measures were taken to minimize the risk to civilians. These included the use of precision-guided munitions, aerial surveillance, and additional intelligence sources.

Strike Target – Mohammad Sinwar
Hamas leader in Gaza, Mohammad Sinwar, was believed to have been inside the underground Hamas command center beneath the European Gaza Hospital at the time of the strike.
Rescue crews in Gaza are currently working to recover bodies from the rubble.
Israel has not yet confirmed whether Sinwar was killed, and it is believed that determining the outcome of the strike may take some time.
Mohammad Sinwar, one of Hamas’s most senior leaders in Gaza, is regarded as a central and dangerous figure by the State of Israel. Known for his hardline stance and support for terrorist activity against Israel, Sinwar has sought to strengthen Hamas’s control over the Gaza Strip and escalate the armed conflict with Israel.
Over the years, he has been involved in planning and executing numerous attacks on Israeli communities near the Gaza border and in southern Israel, consistently leading a militant and uncompromising path in opposition to diplomatic efforts.
For Israel, Sinwar represents a real security threat, and his belligerent policy has been a major obstacle to any attempt at achieving calm and stability in the region. Mohammad Sinwar is the younger brother of Yahya Sinwar, who was eliminated seven months ago.
“Only Hamas Is to Blame”
Amid these developments, U.S. President Donald Trump stated at the leaders’ summit in Saudi Arabia:
“Hamas alone is to blame for what is happening to the residents of Gaza. They deserve a better future.”
