The Israeli Security Agency (Shin Bet) has implemented enhanced security protocols for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during recent public appearances, according to a report published Friday by Ynet. The upgrades include state-of-the-art X-ray machines, body cameras, and enhanced physical screening procedures for attendees.
The new measures were first observed at two major events: the official state ceremony for victims of terror at Mount Herzl, and the International Bible Quiz for Youth in Jerusalem, both attended by the prime minister.
Airport-Style Security at National Events
The new full-body scanners resemble those found in U.S. and international airports, displaying scan results on monitors for trained security screeners. In addition to the scanners, security teams conducted manual pat-downs, extensive questioning, and even requested guests to remove religious head coverings in some instances for further inspection.

Shin Bet agents, some wearing black tactical masks to conceal their identities, were also seen carrying body cameras—a previously unseen measure during civilian events.
Unprecedented Security Presence
One attendee described the atmosphere at a recent memorial as “unprecedented in terms of security. It was clear the stakes had risen.” Others noted the discomfort caused by the intensive screening process but acknowledged the importance of ensuring the Prime Minister’s safety. Though Shin Bet declined to comment specifically on the new procedures, a spokesperson reiterated the agency’s long-standing policy: “We do not comment on security arrangements surrounding public figures.”
