More than 110,000 Israelis celebrated Israel’s 77th Independence Day by heading into nature, visiting national parks and nature reserves from north to south. An additional 2,200 chose to camp overnight at official sites, demonstrating that even amid challenges, national spirit runs strong.

Nature and Safety: A Dual Priority
The Israel Nature and Parks Authority (INPA) praised the public for showing responsibility and awareness, particularly in fire-prone areas. The agency confirmed that no illegal campfires or grillings were reported in open spaces, in full compliance with nationwide fire bans.
Over the past 48 hours, 3,000 dunams (approx. 750 acres) of parkland and reserves have burned in the Judean Hills, prompting INPA rangers to work alongside firefighters, IDF units, and KKL crews to contain and extinguish the blazes.

Leadership Thanks the Public
Orit Steinfeld, Head of Public Engagement at INPA, expressed gratitude: “We were thrilled to welcome thousands of hikers and families to our parks and reserves.
It was heartening to see how seriously the public took fire safety this year. Happy Independence Day, Israel!”
