In an emotional phone call today (Tuesday), Minister Miri Regev informed three Mossad operatives—identified by their initials R., D., and N.—that they have been selected to light a joint torch at Israel’s central Independence Day ceremony on Mount Herzl. The trio were the masterminds behind the renowned Pager Operation, which caused severe damage to Hezbollah’s communications infrastructure in Lebanon. The operation became one of Israel’s most significant actions in the northern theater over the past year.

R., D., and N.
R., a 49-year-old from central Israel, commanded the Pager Operation from within the Mossad’s Operations Division. She led all operational aspects of the mission, including the deployment of agents, the establishment of infrastructure and front companies, and the coordination of field activity with the technological, intelligence, and logistics branches.

D. is a senior technologist in the Mossad’s Operational Technology Division. He led the technical team that tackled the extensive challenges required for the Pager Operation, demonstrating breakthrough capabilities to ensure the operation’s secrecy and its execution with synchronization, force, and precision at the critical moment.

N. is an intelligence officer in the Mossad’s Intelligence Directorate. He initiated and promoted dozens of intelligence operations aimed at weakening the Hezbollah terrorist organization. He led the intelligence effort behind the Pager Operation from the initial idea, through planning and development, to its exceptional execution—working alongside many fellow intelligence and field professionals.

Honoring Those in the Shadows
“R., D., and N. stand, together with their Mossad colleagues, behind a defining operation that will go down in the annals of global covert action,” said Minister Regev. “The selection of Mossad operatives to light a torch is the Israeli people’s way of thanking you—and all those who serve in the shadows, on watch day and night.”

The Pager Operation
The Pager Operation marked a dramatic and decisive turning point in the northern campaign, significantly disrupting the Hezbollah terrorist organization and contributing to Israel’s broader efforts to weaken the Iranian-led axis of evil. The three Mossad representatives will light a shared torch that symbolizes the operational, intelligence, and technological strength of the State of Israel.

The operation’s unique technological foundation stemmed from breakthrough innovation within Israel’s security services and defense industries. The Pager Operation struck fear into Israel’s enemies across the region and bolstered the confidence of both the Israeli public and the country’s allies around the world in Israel’s strength and deterrence capabilities.
