WASHINGTON / JERUSALEM — In a phone call today between U.S. President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the two leaders reaffirmed their close ties and shared positions on key global issues, including Iran.
“Just spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu about many topics, including trade, Iran, and more,” Trump wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “It was a very good call — we are aligned on every issue.”
Netanyahu responded by reposting the message and adding, “Thank you, President Trump!”

Nuclear Talks in the Background
The call comes just days after the latest round of indirect talks between the U.S. and Iran, held at the Omani embassy in Rome. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi described the four-hour meeting as taking place in a “constructive atmosphere” and confirmed that technical-level follow-ups are planned this week in Oman, with senior-level talks set for the weekend.
Israel Weighs Its Options
While diplomacy continues, Israeli officials are reportedly preparing potential military scenarios in case Iran’s nuclear program crosses a red line. According to Reuters, Israel has presented the White House with several graded military options, though no decision has yet been made.
Despite Trump’s measured approach, Israeli sources believe a limited strike against Iranian nuclear sites may still be on the table—even without direct U.S. military backing. “We haven’t ruled out a strike on Iran,” a senior Israeli official told Reuters. “But no decision has been made.”

Trump: “Not Rushing Into Conflict”
Last week, President Trump addressed reports from The New York Times claiming he blocked a planned Israeli strike on Iran for May. “I didn’t stop a strike,” Trump clarified. “I’m just not in a rush to attack.”
He added: “I think Iran wants to talk — I hope so. I want to see Iran prosper, I don’t want to hurt anyone — but Iran must never have a nuclear weapon.
